About Kunda Park

Kunda Park is one of the Sunshine Coast’s most significant industrial and employment precincts.

Located between Nambour, Buderim and Maroochydore, the precinct is home to more than 400 small and medium businesses and supports approximately 4,500 workers across manufacturing, construction, logistics, trades, creative industries and professional services.

Established in the late 1960s, Kunda Park has long been a place where things are made, repaired, stored and distributed. Many locally owned and family-run businesses have operated in the precinct for decades, helping build the practical skills, entrepreneurship and resilience that underpin the Sunshine Coast economy.

Despite this contribution, the precinct has often operated quietly in the background of the region’s growth. Infrastructure and services have not always kept pace with the scale and importance of economic activity taking place in the area. Businesses and workers continue to face challenges related to traffic congestion, heavy vehicle access, public transport and digital connectivity.

Today, Kunda Park sits at the centre of a rapidly evolving part of the Sunshine Coast. As the Maroochydore City Centre emerges and the regional population continues to grow, the precinct remains a critical part of the local economy while also welcoming new businesses, creative industries and technology-enabled enterprises.

ABOUT THE KPA

The Kunda Park Alliance (KPA) is a new community development project aiming to improve the Kunda Park Industrial Precinct on the Sunshine Coast.

KPA is focused on connecting businesses, workers and property owners across the precinct and supporting practical improvements that enhance productivity, accessibility and the success of local businesses - MAKING IT BETTER! Current campaign priorities are congestion, road safety and broadband connectivity.

Membership is free and open to all businesses, workers and property owners in the precinct. Members will receive regular updates, opportunities to contribute to local campaigns, and invitations to be part of relevant meetings and activations.

The Alliance will collaborate and coordinate with existing business groups, industry bodies and government agenices to ensure Kunda Park is well positioned to benefit from emerging regional opportunities, including programs supporting industry collaboration and economic development. The proposed shift to now include Kunda Park within the Maroochydore planning area underscores the changing role of a precinct that was originally designed to be hidden from holidaymakers.

KPA is led by a voluntary steering group of local representatives and hosts regular monthly KPA Catch-UPs on the last Thursday of each month at the Sunshine Coast Brewery. Everyone welcome!

The Kunda Park Alliance is focused on the future of the precinct itself — strengthening its identity, improving the physical and digital environment, and supporting place-based initiatives that help ensure Kunda Park continues to thrive as one of the Sunshine Coast’s key working industrial communities.

The establishment and operations of the Kunda Park Alliance is being supported by the Light Industry Project as part of its six-year pilot project supporting the modernisation of older industrial precincts.
